I interviewed Maricela Yee of Little Shop Artisan Box a few months ago and she recently sent over an October Box for me to check out. There were several goodies from local artisans including Bak Kwa Chipotle Beef by Little Red Dot Kitchen and Pickled Cucumber Garlic Slices by Studebaker Pickles. Obsessive Confection Disorder’s Salted Caramel Lollipops were a little sweet for me, but the Hippy Dippy Crispy Treat was like an organic rice krispy treat on steroids. The brown crisp rice was sweetened with agave nectar and topped with bittersweet chocolate and toasted coconut. And I have to admit, it took me a few days to get up the nerve to try the Toffee Mealworms by Don Bugito Prehispanic Snackeria, but they turned out to be a crispy-salty-sweet ice cream topping. Large boxes are $50, but you get a free small box when you subscribe. Oh, and there’s free shipping & delivery.
