More than 200 booths will cover 9-10 blocks for the 25th annual Oakland Chinatown StreetFest. The Cultural Stages will feature Chinese lion dances, Japanese taiko drumming and Polynesian dance performances; while the Popular Stage will have live music, including 80s and 90s cover bands. There will also be arts & crafts vendors and Henna and Chinese Calligraphy demonstrations. As for the food, they say there will be everything from Thai barbeque to kettle corn.

I’ve been on a couple Dishcrawls in Oakland, and they were both fun and pretty delicious. The next one is scheduled in North Berkeley and it sounds like a good opportunity to get to know the neighborhood. The group will stop at four different restaurants to sample signature dishes and meet the chefs at each spot. They usually keep the restaurants a secret, but I hear Saul’s Deli and Bistro Liaison will be participating.
