Frugal – Curbside Creamery

Curbside Creamery is a new ice cream shop opening in Temescal Alley this fall. It specializes in “gourmet takes on classic flavors everyone loves, available in rotation as traditional dairy or cashew-based vegan.” Owner Tori Wentworth embarked on two years of ice cream testing after graduating from UC Berkeley, and eventually came up with the recipes she uses today. She bought a vending tricycle, but came across the perfect space for a shop and decided to go for it. I tasted several flavors the other day: Mint Stracciatella (vegan), Valrhona Chocolate (vegan), Verve Coffee, Thai Iced Tea, Salty Caramel and my favorite, Bourbon Whiskey Vanilla. It was creamy, rich and slightly boozy. Tori is fundraising with a Kickstarter to cover some of the opening costs and the last day is tomorrow. If you would like to support, there are benefits. For example, you can donate $5 and get a scoop of ice scream or $50 and get your choice of t-shirt, either Curbside text logo or the trike logo, AND a canvas tote bag featuring the trike logo, a sticker and thank you on the website, an invite to our special backer opening party at the shop, plus a gallon ice cream with up to four flavors. Plus the joy of helping.
