A similar event will start after sundown in Walnut Creek.  Gourmet East Bay technically sold out on Wednesday, but you can still win tickets from Diablo Magazine on Twitter.  Over 40 of the East Bay’s top restaurants and wineries will offer tastings.  The silent auction sounds like it’s loaded with goodies: specifically a $1,000 shopping spree at Broadway Plaza.  This time, proceeds will go to the Food Bank and Project Open Hand.

In my humble opinion, UP was one of the best movies of the summer.  Not only is it super cute, the story telling is just phenomenal.  If you didn’t see it, don’t worry – the DVD comes out on Tuesday.  And to celebrate their cameo in the movie, Fenton’s Creamery is having a special event.  According to SFoodie, Pixar animators will be there to share some behind the scenes info and contests.  The prizes…..free ice cream and DVDs, of course!

In the Crabby Chef (Iron Chef style) Competition on Oct 11, eght groups from local restaurants and culinary schools had to create a dish combining crab and the secret ingredient – pomegranate.  The winners were Cristina Lau and Anna Zulaica from Berkeley’s Kitchen, a cooking organization that donates part of their proceeds to charity.  To celebrate their big win and to raise funds for charity, Spenger’s will serve a special crabby menu with beer pairings.
