According to KTVU, D’Alicia’s Taqueria will have to reschedule it’s February 1st Grand Opening after a driver ran a Honda Element into the building. The driver apparently isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, because he left his driver’s licence at the scene! Bad news for him, good news for OPD, I guess.

It’s time to order pie, while you still can. Alameda Pie, formerly Pie Truck, will be closing on Saturday, Februay 6th, after making their final deliveries. If you e-mail your order by Tuesday, they bake your pie with fresh ingredients and deliver it on Friday or Saturday. What’s on this week’s menu? Pumpkin, sweet potato, pecan, backyard lemon (made with whole sliced lemons) and banana cream pie (all $20) for everyone with a sweet tooth. And chicken, veggie coconut, beef stew and spinach quiche (all $7) are on the savory side.
Banyan 14 reportedly closed after about a year of serving sustainable Thai and Vietnamese food- with a twist- in Downtown Oakland.

Yayu Ethiopian Restaurant is planning to open next month on Lakeshore (in the old Vine Wine Bar space). The good news is, they’ll stay open late, til 10:30pm and 11:30pm on the weekends. I fully support more kitchens staying open after 9!
