Lulu Rae Confections closed on December 31, according to Berkeleyside.  I missed out on the closing sale, but I hope lots of people took advantage. Sigh…looks like we’re going to have to find another place to get chocolates, fudge and gelato.

A couple weeks ago, I wrote about how Miette’s kitchen recently opened.  According to 7×7 Magazine, the baking school is scheduled to open in March.  They will offer baking and decorating classes on afternoons, evenings and weekends.  Students will learn how to make cookies, candies and wedding cakes in one day workshops and six week programs.
Green Papaya, a Thai vegetarian restaurant, opened last month in Berkeley.  According to Vegansaurus, they have an inventive menu and a delicious Pad Thai.  Check out the post for details and pics.

Meat lovers will be happy to know Tomm’s BBQ recently opened in Oakland.  They have a pretty big menu, so I decided to get the combo plate when I picked up lunch: pulled pork, beef brisket, hot links, potato salad and baked beans for only $12.99!
