Ground Hog Day, Super Bowl & sustainable Deli cuisine

Live Culture, the same folks that put on the “Pork Prom” a few weeks ago are calling this month’s Pork CSA “Ground Hog Day”.  Get it?  You can order a 10 lb. share of premium (raw) bacon, sausage and pork chops, pick it up at Blue Bottle Coffee and take it home to cook. They’ll grill an extra sausage link and throw in some other “goodies” when you show up.

Luka’s is showing the game on a giant screen, and serving $3 beers along with free chili dogs.

Bocanova offers 2 big screens, unlimited food (tacos, sliders and chicken wings) and happy hour drink specials.

Next week, when the Super Bowl is just a distant memory, Saul’s Deli will host a discussion about the role of sustainability in the future of Deli cuisine.  Michael Pollan groupies take note.  The author of The Omnivore’s Dilemma will be on the panel, along with the co-owners of the deli and Willow Rosenthal, the founder of City Slicker Farms.  Proceeds will be donated to The Center for Ecoliteracy.
