Remember when Lulu Rae Confections closed in December?  Wood Tavern, the busy restaurant next door is expanding into the 1,500 sqaure foot vacant space.  According to SFoodie, their regular menu won’t be offered in the new side.  Instead, they’ll serve small plates, cheese and charcuterie.

There’s drama in the chocolate factory.  Hershey’s acquired Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker in 2005 and closed the Berkeley factory last year.  According to the Tribune, the Berkeley City Council voted to let a medical marijuana dispensary move into the location.   That’s when the drama began.  Apparently there’s a law that prevents marijuana dispensaries to be within 1,000 feet of public schools, but it doesn’t include the private Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley that’s located just a block away.  The Berkeley Bowl West, located next door, is also not supportive because they’re afraid dispensary customers will use their parking lot.
