Novella Carpenter is hosting an Open House at her farm, which is also the subject of her book, Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer. By the way, it was recently nominated for a Northern California Book Award. You can take a self-guided tour, meet the author and help pull bermuda grass if you want.

The former Barnes & Nobles bookstore will be transformed into Taste for Artisans – Handmade Ho Down Village next weekend. There will be over 75 artisans, local breweries, a farmer’s market, live craftmaking and classes, and live music. The Ho Down theme will be complete with mechanical bull rides and a square dancing competition, but I think they might have gone too far with “creamed corn wrestling.”

Battledish, a foodie adventure game and Canvas Underground Supperclub, are joining forces to create a Canvas Dishcrawl. What’s a Dishcrawl? It’s basically a four course meal at four different restaurants. The restaurants are a surprise until the day of the evnet, but when I asked organizer Tracy Lee for a hint, she mentioned something about a street food truck or cart. Hmmm… Don’t wait to buy tickets – there are only few couple left!
