Here are a couple events in Jack London Square planned for Cinco de Mayo next Wednesday:

Cocina Poplana will start the 5 day celebration with live music and dancers. Starting May 1, the first tequila drink is $1, May 2 it’s $2, and so on, all the way up to $5 house margaritas on the big day.

Brunch

Gather is serving an a la carte brunch of Acme Walnut French Toast with braised strawberry-kumquat topping, maple walnut sauce and Straus yogurt; Fried Egg and Roasted Merguez sausage with chickpea ragout and preserved lemon aioli; Roasted market Vegetables with spicy lentils and soft grits; Young Chicken under a Brick with heirloom bean hominy ragout and shaved spring radish.

Italian Colors is opening especially for Mother’s Day brunch: Eggs Benedict; Lobster Hash; Angus Rib Eye Steak; Challah French Toast; Dungeness Crab Antipasta; Wild Mushroom Omlette; Dungeness Crab, acovado & jack cheese omlette; Grilled Salmon; and Brie and Mango Quesadilla.  Regular Sunday dinner 5 pm – 9:30 pm.

Chevalier is normally closed on Sunday, but they’re opening especially for Mother’s Day.  They will serve roasted Colorado Lamb Sirloin with corona beans, tomatoes and hot chorizo ragout with tarragon and lamb jus; Montana Natural Piedmontese Skirt Steak pan seared with burgundy wine and shallot sauce; White Veal Scallopini Normande with golden chanterelle mushrooms flambéed in Calvados cream sauce; and Pan seared Massachusetts Day Boat scallops with Périgord black truffle risotto.
