The east bay dish 1st anniversary party will be at one my favorite bars: Penelope. The space is comfortable; the owners are cool people and the cocktails are unique. I’m still working my way through the menu, but my current favorites are the Oaktown Heat and the Jali Berry (pictured – yes, that’s a jalapeño garnish). Penelope is only a few blocks away from the 12th Street BART station, so there is absolutely no excuse for missing the party.
Muchísimas gracias to my old friends for the support and to my new friends for the good times and good food. Yup, it’s definitely time to celebrate.

If you’re interested in Italian wine, you might want to go to the wine dinner hosted by Farmstead Cheeses and Wines at Locanda da Eva. Dalla Terra Winery is the special guest, and they’ll pour “astoundingly great, handcrafted wines from Italy, each representing the best in their class.” Chef Huw Thornton will serve a seasonal menu to go along with the wines. Don’t wait to make a reservation, because this event will sell out.
