It’s Meyer lemon season, which means it’s the perfect time to learn new ways to use the citrus. Dafna Kory of INNA jam will teach new techniques to use Meyer lemons in both sweet and savory applications at Local 123. First, she’ll demonstrate a not-too-sweet Meyer lemon jam that’s not as bitter as traditional marmalades. Then, she’ll explain how she pickles Meyer lemons. Hers are similar to traditional Moroccan preserved lemons – but with less salt, more juice and minimal processing. The workshop is limited to 20 lucky people who will take home a jar of both the jam and the preserved lemons, plus recipes. The last one sold out early, so don’t wait to sign up. If you can’t make it to the workshop, I would definitely recommend checking out her annual subscriptions. It’s like a CSJ – Community Supported Jam. First, you decide how many jars of her yummy, local, single varietal jam you can handle each season. Then, you sign up to have them shipped, delivered by bicycle, or you can also pick them up at Local 123. Dafna’s still finalizing the spring collection, but it’s looking like it will include Hayward Kiwi, Seascape Strawberry, Tayberry and Blueberry.
