Kitchen 388 opened Tuesday in the short-lived Zoey’s Bistro space.  I stopped by for breakfast and an discovered the Egg Sandwich ($5.95) of my dreams: fried egg, ham, strawberry-kumquat jam, flaky biscuit.  Seriously, I think I fell in love.  It’s currently open 7am – 3pm for breakfast and lunch and will add more hours and menu items, including beer and wine, in the future.

Casa Bernal Taqueria opened last week in the former Amanda’s location. The menu includes your basic tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, and features free range chicken, Niman Ranch pork and beef.

iScream opened it’s doors a few months ago, but had a Grand Opening on last Sunday.  From 2 – 4, they served free waffle cones and toppings with your ice cream purchase.  Heads up: the Salted Caramel ice cream with hot fudge was a good combo.

Grub Street broke the news that Brown Sugar Kitchen owner Tanya Holland will open B-Side BBQ in the former Yardie Jerk location.  Inside Scoop added a few details: all styles of barbecue (Memphis, Texas, etc.) will be featured and the opening date is scheduled for the beginning of August, with only lunch takeout available.  A build out is scheduled for next year, and the name refers to “the ‘B’ side of a record – so the B-Side BBQ will be the ‘b side’ of Brown Sugar Kitchen, on the ‘b side’ of the Bay.”
