Heads up: Chop Bar’s First Pig Roast of the year is on Sunday. I’ve never been, but I’ve heard these events can get crowded – and it’s supposed to be sunny this weekend too. They will serve 4 pigs and various sides (including salad and cornbread) at Linden Street Brewery. Of course, there will be beer, along with Periscope Wines and a jumpy house for the kids. Sounds like a beautiful day.

Restaurateurs Jon D’Angelica, Chris Vance and Ryan Vance, who opened District San Francisco in 2007 and Ironside in 2009 are opening a location in the former Levende East space. Wine Director/ Sommelier Caterina Mirabelli has put together an approachable list of over 40 wines available by the glass and in flights for Oakland’s District. In addition, to featuring craft whisky, her cocktail menu updates classics like the Sazerac. Executive Chef Bob Cina created a shareable menu with French and Latin influences and it looks like it will share some of the same dishes with District San Francisco: braised oxtail sombreros, spinach and fontina arancini, Moroccan spiced lamb meatballs and house cured guanciale, calabrian chili, dandelion greens and pecorino pizzetta. Oh, and there’s a $1 Oyster Happy Hour (Mon – Fri, 4 – 6pm, Sat, 5 – 7pm).
