Every Alice Medrich recipe I’ve tried has been both easy and delicious – and her Lemon Bars and New Classic Brownies just make life better. So, when I realized her newest cookbook has both the words “easy” and “delicious” in the title, I knew I would also have to own this one too. Plus, I’m intrigued by her press-in pie crust and all-ingredients-into-the-food-processor cake recipes. Sinfully Easy Delicious Desserts: Quicker Smarter Recipes would be a great gift for Mother’s Day and the book signing at The Pasta Shop is perfect timing for all the last minute shoppers out there (including me).

There are tons of places to take your mom for brunch, but I want to tell you about Joshu-ya Brasserie. I was invited to dinner last year and fell in love with the fresher than fresh sushi. The restaurant just added brunch last month and Chef Jason Kwon’s new menu looks promising: Eggs Benedict ($8.50), California Omelet ($6.50) Challah French Toast ($7) and a Pulled-Pork “Samich” ($9).
