Social – Start Your Garden & Get to Know Danville

For all you urban farmers out there, Upinde Roots is holding an EarthBox Workshop this weekend.  Volunteers will demonstrate how to grow your own organic vegetables in a small amount of space with 20-40% less water than a traditional garden.  I was actually invited to a workshop a couple years ago and I bought an EarthBox for my balcony.  My tomato plants grew like crazy and kept me supplied through the entire summer.  And let me tell you, I smirked every time I saw tomatoes for $4 a pound at the market.

I first read about Simply Delicious Danville on Diablo, and it seems like a good way to get to know the town.  Restaurants including Amber Bistro, The Vine At Bridges, Mangia Mi, Sideboard and The Peasant and the Pear will host cooking demonstrations and tastings throughout the day.  A sort of self-guided culinary walking tour, you can eat your way through the historic downtown area and stop in a boutique when you get full.
