Bueno Eats will take over Guerilla Cafe every Friday night this month for a series of pop-up dinners. The theme is “Latin Freestyle” and Chef Maria Esquivel’s first menu is a combination of Mexican, Colombian and Dominican cuisines. Here are some of the dishes I found most intriguing: Arepas de Yucca – crispy balls of cassava with a hint of anise, served with chumichurri & chipotle aioli, Deconstructed Chicken Tamale – chicken braised in tomatillo salsa over corn masa, garnished with cilantro, pickled carrot & jalapeno and Mexican Chocolate Tart – sweet & spicy chocolate topped with cinnamon spiced pecans.
