Sophia Chang was the manager of Teacake Bake Shop’s commercial kitchen for five years. When they decided to sell, she took over the lease, built a network of artisan start-up food businesses and opened Kitchener Oakland about a month ago. Inspired by Iso Rabins of forageSF and SF Underground Markets, the artisans support each other. In the next few months, she plans to host classes, events and workshops, but in the meantime, you can get to know the artisans this week at the Meet & Greet (and Eat). Along with beer from Linden Street Brewery, here are some of the artisans who will be providing samples: Milton & Small (cold brew coffee made with Bicycle Coffee), The Whole Cake (gourmet custom cakes), Oakland Bakes (gourmet custom cakes), Soulfull Foodz (gluten-free cookies), Pyramid Organics (organic confections), The Sage Spoon (sweet & savory muffins), The Living Apothecary (cold-pressed juices, infused kefirs, and raw tapenades), Javi’s Cooking (empanadas), Barbarian Gourmet (event catering) and Pão de Queijos (Brazilian Cheese Rolls).
