I stopped by Beauty’s Bagel Shop on their one month anniversary. They serve a Montreal style bagel – slightly smaller than what I’m used to, but much more flavorful. The bagels are made in small batches throughout the day. They are hand rolled and boiled in honey water before being baked in a wood-fired oven. My Plain Bagel ($1.65) was still warm, crispy on the outside, dense on the inside, and slightly sweet with a hint of smokiness. I also ordered a Veggie Bagel Sandwich ($6, Cream Cheese, Tomato, Salted Cucumber, Capers, Red Onion & Arugula), which was kind of hard to eat, but that didn’t bother me. The tart, salty freshness on top of the bagel was incredibly enjoyable. Platters of bagels, cream cheese and lox are available for “Break Fast” after Yom Kippur on Wed, 9/26.
