It seems like everyone was sad when The Parkway closed three and a half years ago. Lucky for us, J Moses Ceaser took it upon himself to open another movie theater with love seats, food, beer and wine. The New Parkway is scheduled to open on Fri, 11/30. For now, they’re planning 24th on 24th, a neighborhood block party tomorrow, on October 24th. Businesses on 24th Street, including Creative Growth Art Center, Kitchener Oakland, Soja Martial Arts and ER Transmissions will all turn into movie theaters for the night, with each location showing a different film. Sweet Bar Bakery isn’t officially open yet, but this will be a chance to check out the space and the menu. Kitchener artisans will also be selling food (Brisket Biscuits, Lamb Poutine, Candied Bacon Caramel Corn, Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches, Empanadas, Brazilian Cheese Rolls…) at each “theater.” Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs and blankets!
474 24th Street, Oakland
Wed, 10/24, 6 – 10pm
