Frugal – Tea Here Now

photo: Christina Mitchell

After a career in non-profit fundraising and event planning, Andrea Tyler accomplished one of her life-long goals when she opened a tea shop last week.  When I stopped by Tea Here Now one morning, I found a small, cozy space with just a few tables.  She visited a tea cottage in England while she was in high school and has been learning about tea since then.  I tried the Moroccan Mint Tea and noticed that Andrea was very precise as she steeped the tea in this impressive looking contraption.  I was even more impressed when I learned there was a Grain Salad ($7, Lentils, Brown Rice, Dino Kale, Shredded Carrot in a Sesame Ginger Vinaigrette, sprinkled with Parmesan) on the menu AND my cup of tea was included in the price.  Although I had to add a little salt, it was hearty and healthy in the best way possible.  I ate the whole thing and it sustained me the entire day.  At $7, it was quite the bargain.
