Last week, I gave some suggestions for help with Thanksgiving dinner. If you’re still looking, Kitchener Oakland is hosting a Thanksgiving Public Market tonight. Artisans will be there with samples of food and desserts and I’m actually going to be there with Pound Cake. It’s made with a secret family recipe and I won a Blue Ribbon in the California State Fair for this cake when I was in 7th grade. It’s tender and buttery and mandatory at Thanksgiving in my house. And now, you can have it at your house too! The first 2 people to comment on the Facebook post this afternoon can pick up a free Pound Cake at the event. There will also be free beer (Linden Street and Fat Tire), a wine tasting (Lusu Cellars) and plenty of artisans offering samples and items for purchase including Barbarian Gourmet (Mashed sweet potatoes, pear dumplings, assorted pies), Big Wheel Cookie Company (Cinnamon and Pumpkin Ice Cream), The Cook and Her Farmer (Oysters on the half shell with special sauce, seasonal jam, and fermented pickles), Chunky Pig (Candied bacon caramel corn), Lila Nell’s (Lemon and ginger bundt cakes), Milton & Small (Spiced hot lattes with a twist), Muffin Revolution (Bourbon persimmon loaves, holiday muffins), Picnic Bakery (Dutch apple cream cheese coffee cakes), RAWR (Liberty Duck fat for duck fat fries, sauteeing vegetables, making stuffing), Sabor do Brasil (Brazilian cheese rolls), Santipapas (Roasted tomato and tomatillo salsas), SunnySide Catering (Sweet potato and cheddar biscuits, gravy, holiday biscuit sandwiches) and Three Trees Foods (Holiday almond, cashew, and pistachio milks).
