Thirsty – A Furniture Store/Coffee Shop/Wine Bar

Last week, I told you about The Red Whale, a new wine bar/wine shop on Grand Ave.  Since then I found out there’s another wine bar on the same block.  Can there ever be too many?   Named after a main street in Indonesia, Monkey Forest Road opened about a year ago with furniture, artwork and accessories from Bali for sale.  It also happens to be a coffee shop with a pastry chef on staff baking fresh scones, cakes and other goodies in house.  Starting a couple weeks ago, they extended hours to add a wine bar on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. When I stopped by, I found a combination of common and not-so-common varietals.  It’s a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine (or beer), but be careful with the expensive Charcuterie Board.  At $16.50, I expected a lot more than what I was served.  Hopefully they’ll work out the pricing system in the next few weeks.
