Nosy – Coffee is for Everybody

Cafe 3016 is scheduled to open on Thursday near the border of the Dimond and Laurel Districts.  Owners Edwin and Amber Poon grew up, got married and still live in the neighborhood so it’s not surprising that family and community are the focus of their new cafe.  In fact, the counter was made from a tree in Amber’s dad’s yard. The first-time business owners wanted to bring Third Wave Coffee to the neighborhood because “Coffee is for everybody.” Cafe 3016 will be the first place in the East Bay serving Wrecking Ball Coffee.  In addition to coffee, baked goods from IndieCakes, Muffin Revolution and Authentic Bagel Company will also be offered, along with sandwiches and salads made with organic meat and produce from Farmer Joe’s, tofu from Hodo Soy Beanery and bread from Semifreddi’s.  When I stopped by yesterday, the space felt comfortable and welcoming, especially with art from Laurel Elementary School students decorating the walls.  I can’t wait to go back to taste some of the things on the menu!
