Frugal – Love Our Lake Day

The results of a $47 million redevelopment project will be unveiled at Love Our Lake Day this weekend (here’s a time-lapse video of the construction). The family friendly event spans three miles of car-free streets, and includes the Lake Merritt Boulevard (formerly 12th Street) Grand Opening Celebration at 2pm, 11 new lampposts, light-based sculptures, new amphitheater, four-acre park, pathways and bridges.  There will be over 40 activities including salsa dancing, Taiko drumming, Brass quintet from Oakland East Bay Symphony, martial arts, sports, yoga, hula hooping, belly dancing and a bike rodeo.  And, of course, there will be plenty of food trucks and carts:
