Township Pop-Up Dinner

Abeni Massey has been working on Township, a new restaurant which will open in Downtown Oakland this winter. It will serve contemporary American cuisine with some of the produce sourced from their Oakland urban farm. Township pays “respect to the past while offering an ever-changing yet consistent menu, with nuances and surprising flourishes.” As a way to encourage people to become urban farmers themselves, she’s also opening a farm store connected to the restaurant, which will offer plant starts, heirloom seeds, beekeeping supplies, along with grab and go soups, salads, sandwiches and coffee. There will be a partial wall dividing the two spaces, and during the evenings, diners can flow between the restaurant and store. During the build out, they’re organizing biweekly pop-up dinners at Geoffrey’s, to showcase the food and beverage program. Here’s is the menu for this week:  Halibut Crudo with Grapefruit Granita and Corncakes, Duck Confit with Braised Rapini, Heirloom Tomato and Burrata Salad, Fried Peach Pocket Pies w/ Creme Fraiche and Bourbon Ice Cream.
