The Kitchener Snack Bar

Kitchener Oakland opened as a shared kitchen and has been hosting pop-up markets since 2012. Owner Sophia Chang just started a Kickstarter to raise the money needed to turn her office into two take-out windows (aka The Snack Bar). Artisans would have a location where customers could find them and get dishes like Argentine Empanadas, Lamb Poutine and Apple Pie: “Imagine a place where burgeoning foodmakers who can’t afford their own brick-and-mortars can sell their creations to the public regularly and make a community impact.” The Kitchener crew needs to raise $25,000 and you can help by donating what you can. And if you pledge $25 or more, you’ll receive a limited edition “I Love Oakland” print that was designed and hand printed by yours truly.
