Alchemy Bottle Shop’s Grand Opening

Alchemy Bottle Shop just opened on Grand Avenue, so I stopped by the other day. It’s beautiful inside, like a boutique – a bottle boutique. After tasting through everything (tough job, right?), Tova Herman and Peter Mustacich hand selected a premium selection of small batch, natural spirits.  There are local and not so local bottles of vodka, gin, tequila, rum, whiskey and more.  Prices range from around $20 – 100.  My favorite spirit these days is bourbon so I asked for a recommendation. Tova said St. George’s Breaking & Entering ($34), distilled in Kentucky and blended in Alameda, had spice notes, like Bananas Foster.  And since I like all of the other St. George spirits I’ve tasted, I decided to try this one too. When I opened the bottle at home, the bourbon was layered, complex and perfect to sip on. I can’t wait to make a cocktail with it. Alchemy is planning cocktail classes and an art gallery upstairs in the near future. To celebrate the official Grand Opening, they’re offering 10% off this Saturday.  Sounds like a good opportunity to stock up.
