I’ve been following Peter’s Kettle Corn on social media for a while, but didn’t get a chance to buy a bag until a couple weeks ago at the Laurel Street Fair. The kettle corn was not too salty, not too sweet sweet and lighter than air. When I heard they’re getting ready to open a storefront in my new neighborhood I had to stop by.
Peter and John Ngu are brothers and business partners who built Peter’s Kettle Corn from the ground up. It was inspiring to hear all about their “beautiful journey.” The new storefront will open this weekend, so people won’t have to wait to satisfy their kettle corn fix at fairs and farmers markets. And now there will be about 20 interesting flavors, inspired by different cultures and dishes they’ve experienced, including Horchata, Sea Salted Caramel, Spicy Cheddar, Sea Salted Seaweed and Spicy Chipotle Lime. The first one I want to try is the Smoked BBQ, which tastes like BBQ potato chips in my imagination. Yum.
The Grand Opening is scheduled for this Saturday and it sounds like a big block party. They’re passing out free popcorn and a DJ, The Chairman Truck, Fist of Flour and CookieBar will be there to help break in the new shop.
