Last year, I asked restaurant owners, managers and food bloggers to share their thoughts on how music affects the dining experience. Everyone had something different to say, but most people agreed that music has a pretty big impact. So when Rockbot reached out to me, I was excited to learn more about the app. It’s basically a jukebox on your phone, so if a restaurant or bar has signed up for the service, you can add songs to the queue from their library. It sounds like a win-win to me because businesses can maintain the vibe with minimal effort and customers can choose their favorite songs. When I stopped by the office to try it out, I also realized that it’s a social experience because you can tap a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down to the songs, and the most popular tracks play first. I could see how the app would get people talking to each other in a bar. And I felt utter joy and satisfaction when my jam, Thriller by Michael Jackson started to play. That feeling would probably be magnified in a busy restaurant or bar.
Rockbot is already at Buffalo Wild Wings, Lucky Strike, The Melt and other national chains, but it’s an Oakland-based company so they wanted to show the town some love: “The first 50 East Bay businesses to sign up will get 30% off their Rockbot monthly subscription and a FREE Rockbot Player ($300 value), when they pre-pay for one year.” To take advantage of the offer, businesses should enter the coupon code EastBay50 when signing up for the Gold Plan or call 415-813-6020 for more info.
