A pop-up dinner, a pizza delivery test drive and where to get a Doughnut Dolly Bananas Foster Milkshake

  • Clove & Hoof is opening on Broadway today: “We are a neighborhood butchery and restaurant dedicated to using primarily whole animals raised responsibly. Come on in and order up our chops, roasts, special order cuts, sausage and charcuterie – all made in-house of course! We will be offering a full menu, great for dining in or taking out on the go.”

  • Atlanta-based Farm Burger opened a West Berkeley location last week.  In addition to burgers, fries and salads, you should know that they have  a Doughnut Dolly Bananas Foster Milkshake on the menu.  You’re welcome.

  • In the words of Barbarian Gourmet, “A cookbook that supports animal rescue, disabled adults AND the arts all while celebrating local chefs? Yes please!”

  • The Freedom Farmers Market is getting ready to launch a Harvest Box program, which will be filled with fresh fruits and vegetables.  Prices range from $10 to $25 and may include items from food vendors in addition to the local, organic produce.

  • I watched Gina make small batches Chunky Pig at Kitchener a few years ago, so it was cool to see how she’s kept her standards high even as the business has grown.

  • Farley’s East is having a canned food drive: “Bring in at least 2 cans of food to donate to the Alameda County Food Bank and get 1 FREE cup of coffee….Last year we raised 65 pounds of food we have until Dec 1st to beat that record!”

  • Simone and Sebastian of S + S Gastro Grub are some of the most talented cooks around.  They are kicking off a dinner pop-up series and you shouldn’t wait to get a ticket because the first event has already sold out!

  • Fist of Flour is doing a Doughjo Delivery test drive: “This weekend, starting at 5pm Friday November 21st, Saturday November 22nd and Sunday November 23rd, we will be offering a limited area delivery. We’ll be taking orders all day and the first orders will roll out at 5pm. If this works, we’ll be launching a more comprehensive delivery schedule starting December 2nd, so bear with us as this is a test drive.”

  • Homestead Restaurant will be hosting a Crab Feed on next Wednesday, 11/26 from 3 – 9pm: “This prix fixe family style supper is designed for those who love crab and don’t want to cook the day before Thanksgiving.”
