It’s all about the cakes at It’s All Good Bakery

It’s All Good Bakery opened almost 20 years ago in a building that turned out to be the first headquarters of the Black Panther Party.  It’s also special because they serve traditional cakes that are usually only made at home by moms and grandmas.

Honestly, my mom’s cakes are the best – and I’m not just saying that because she’ll probably read this (Hi Mom!).  Let’s just say these cakes aren’t far behind:

The Sweet Potato Cake was lighter than air with and enrobed in a silky-smooth vanilla cream cheese frosting.

The Sock it To Me Cake was like a fluffy coffee cake with a layer of cinnamon, nutmeg and pecans running throughout.  If possible, you should pick it up a couple days in advance to let the flavors get acquainted.

The 7up Cake is actually their signature cake.  It’s sturdy, but has a tender crumb and a hint of citrus.  This one was also more flavorful two days later, so plan accordingly.
