Mardi Gras Food: Where to Eat in the East Bay

Mardi Gras is next Tuesday, so here are some ways to celebrate in the East Bay.  Laissez les bon temps roulez!

the new parish mardi grasThe New Parish is hosting a Mardi Gras Parade that starts at Awaken Cafe (1429 Broadway).  Entertainment includes East Bay Brass Band, MJ’s Brass Boppers, Batala, MJ’s Brass Steppers, Blue Bone Express, Dimensions Dance Theater and food will be provided by Chef Teena Johnson of ‘Catered To You.’

Picán is serving Gumbo, Crawfish Bisque, Étouffée, Jambalaya, Crispy Cajun Chicken and Beignets, along with Hurricanes and Sazeracs.

Angeline’s Louisiana Kitchen will have specials every night from Friday through Fat Tuesday. King Cakes are also available beginning on Wednesday.

Hopscotch is having a Fat Tuesday Party featuring New Orleans inspired food and cocktail specials from 11:30am to 10pm with extended Happy Hour from 3pm to 6pm.  They’re serving Gumbo, Boudin Balls, Shrimp Po’Boy, Red Beans & Dirty Rice and drinks include Sazerac, Hurricane, Vieux Carré and Pimm’s Cup.

And Arizmendi Bakery’s King’s Cakes are filled with cream cheese and then frosted and sugared.
