I’ve had my share of slices of Fist of Flour Pizza Company since I moved to the neighborhood last year.
The crust has flavor.
The toppings are creative.
It’s baked long enough (I don’t do soggy pizza).
Don’t get me wrong…the pizza is solid, but there are a couple other delicious things you need to know about.
I’ve been wanting to try the Meatball Sub since I saw a picture on social media. Housemade Beef Meatballs, Tomato Sauce, Provolone on a Semifreddi Roll ($9)? Yes please!
This craving intensified until I HAD to have one immediately. Elated with my decision-making skills, I walked down to the shop only to find out they were out of meatballs.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
A few months later, I saw another picture on social media and the craving returned. But this time I called and ordered a sandwich and side salad in advance.
I just asked for a Side Salad (Organic Mixed Greens, Red Onion, Cherry Tomatoes, Goat Cheese, Housemade Blueberry Vinaigrette, $4) as an afterthought – to balance out the sub – but it turned out to be incredibly fresh and flavorful. Each component was seasoned to perfection and the sum was greater than its parts.
My Meatball Sub definitely wasn’t as cheesy as the one in their picture, but it sure was delicious. The tender meatballs were slathered in a slightly spicy sauce and everything was cradled in a toasted roll. It was impressive, but I would ask for more cheese next time. Oh yeah, and there will DEFINITELY be a next time.
