Drake’s Brewery holds a block party on the First Friday of every month, including tonight.  For $15, you get a Drake’s tasting glass and 3 full pours (choose from the eight Drake’s Beers available).  Additional pours can be purchased for $3.50.  I’m kind of intrigued by tonight’s menu, created by s + s gastro grub: Pickled Quail Eggs (pictured), Crispy Pork Belly and Pickled Watermelon Rind Skewer, Pickled Watermelon Rind Salad with Feta, Macau Style Bone-in Pork Chop Bun, Edamame & Black Bean Burger with sharp cheddar, lettuce & tomato and “Drakonic Imperial Stout” Milk Chocolate Ice Cream. Proceeds go to Washington Elementary School Dad’s Club.

Toast opened as a wine bar in Oakland around this time last year after the owners successfully raised $15,000 on Kickstarter.  Now they’re getting ready to open a bar next door, featuring “artisan cocktails made from small batch ingredients.”  In fact, they just got a full liquor license.  If you like, you can donate to their new Kickstarter page ($1 minimum) to help with the build out.  The campaign ends Sun, 4/15 and they plan to open in the next few months.
