More than 2 dozen restaurants are participating in the first annual Walnut Creek Restaurant Week by offering special prix fixe menus for lunch ($10-20) and dinner ($20-40). After taking a peek at the menus, these two stood out to me: McCovey’s BBQ & Beer Sampler ($20) and lunch at Élevé (Soup du Jour or Papaya Citrus Salad, Caramelized Chicken Hoisin Plate or Lemongrass Steak Vermicelli Bowl and Crème Brûlée, $20).

The 5th Annual Contra Costa College Food & Wine event features over 50 local restaurants, a silent auction and a cake walk. Proceeds support the Culinary Arts Management Department and fund study abroad scholarships.
