Social – Cocina Criolla & Bites Off Broadway

cocina-criolla-flyerAfter Sofrito closed a few years ago, Puerto Rican food  has not been readily available in Oakland. So, I paid attention when I noticed GrubStreet’s post about Cocina Criolla’s pop-up dinner.  Ian Hernandez, a cook at Dopo, will take over on Sunday when the restaurant is closed.    He’ll prepare a four course menu featuring Puerto Rican specialties: Ensalada de Pulpo (Octopus Salad), Alcapurrias y Sorullos (Beef & Corn Fritters), Lomillo Encebollado Con Mofongo (Skirt Steak) and Flan del Barrilito (Rum Custard).  Email lacomidacriolla@gmail.comto make reservations for one of the two seatings (5 and 8pm). UPDATE: This event has been postponed until a later date.  I’ll keep you posted.
