During their last semester at UC Berkeley, Alejandro Velez and Nikhil Arora came up with the idea to grow mushrooms in recycled coffee grounds and then started their business Back to the Roots. For the first time ever, they are opening their doors to the public through Gilt City. All tours include light bites, beverages and a Grow Your Own Mushroom Kit, but a lunch of Oyster Mushroom Tacos is also offered on Saturdays. Groups of six people can schedule a private tour ($199), which also includes T-shirts.
