Umami Mart has been a blog and online retail store for a few years, and now and it will also be a brick and mortar store in Old Oakland. Working with small business incubator Pop-Up Hood, shopkeepers Yoko and Kayoko will open in a former gallery space. They plan to sell “barware from Japan, as well as glassware, coffee and teaware, and various kitchen accessories” and also hope to sell Japanese food in the future. In the meantime, they will be working to get the shop ready for the big opening planned for August 3.
