Last week, I was invited to a family-style dinner on the Sunnyside patio at Lark Creek Walnut Creek. It was a cold night, but the heaters kept us surprisingly warm. Chef Scott Wall came out to slice the smoky, tender beef tableside, while the server didn’t let our wine glasses go empty. The lamb was on the bland side, but the sides did not disappoint: creamy mac & cheese, savory roasted potatoes, and my favorite, the Brussels sprouts with lemon juice and herbs (I was lucky enough take the leftovers home). These family-style dinners would be great for groups to get together for a meal, whether it’s someone’s birthday, or just a Wednesday.
