Oakland’s newest lounge & lots of wine events

Uptown has a brand new addition to the growing nightlife scene, according to the Oakland Tribune. Para Diso Lounge is named after a district of Asmara, the capital city of the owners’ native Eritrea.  Sharing one of the owners of 2022 (the bar on Telegraph and 21st), this new spot sounds like it’s a lot bigger with 2 dance floors, 2 full bars and 2 big flat screen TVs.  The grand opening is still a few weeks away but the lounge “has been operating on weekends on a limited basis.”

Chocolate and wine
If you’re trying to finish your holiday shopping (or start like me), maybe you should stop by A Donkey and Goat.  I saw them pick and press grapes on In Wine Country the other day, and really appreciated their natural philosophy.  They are offering a Taste Box, which includes samples of 4 Syrahs and Bittersweet chocolate for $20.  The Taste Box Deluxe ($95) includes everything in the Taste Box plus a gift code for two bottles, so your friends can taste before they order.  Avoid the $10 shipping charge by picking it up either this Saturday or next.

Meteors, bento boxes and wine
Eden Canyon’s Holiday party will start out with wine tasting and food catered by Yoshi’s.  Then, an astronomer will discuss the meteor shower (with an anticipated 100-120 per hour), followed by observatory deck viewing.  If mother nature isn’t cooperating, Plan B will take the event inside the planitarium.
