Onion Rings

I first read about The Bureau 510, which opened last month, on Tablehopper.  Owner James Sansangasakun also runs Summer Summer Thai, which happens to be across the street.  He brought in Edward Higgins (chef de cuisine at Quattro Restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto) to consult on the International menu of burgers and sandwiches.  I wasn’t in the mood for a burger when I stopped by the other day so the server suggested the Banh Mi (BBQ pork, chicken, cilantro, homemade pate, pickled vegetables, English cucumber, jalapeno on ACME rustic baguette, $8.50).  It was fresh and spicy, but honestly, it was hard to pay $8.50 knowing Cam Huang serves their own tasty version for $2.75.  When I asked the server if I should go with the Hand Cut Fries or IPA Onion Rings (for an additional $2), he didn’t let me finish my sentence before recommending the rings.  They turned out to be thoroughly enjoyable: light, crispy, salty and sweet.
