Nosy – Wood Fired Pizza

Good news: Jack London Square’s newest restaurant opened yesterday.  Forge is in a huge space around the corner from Bocanova and it specializes in wood fired pizza.  I went to one of the pre-opening parties last week and tasted some of the items off the menu.  The Crispy Cheese Curds ($7.50) were downright addictive.  I mean, come on, fried cheese?  Enough said.  I camped out next to the wood fired oven and watched the chef work  his magic.  In the name of research, I tasted pretty much every pizza they made that night, and the toppings were all flavorful and expertly assembled but the crust was a little on the soggy side.  The large bar basically guarantees a fun happy hour and it actually seems like a good place to watch the Super Bowl.  There are other yummy sounding dishes on the menu like a Pork Meatball Sandwich ($9) and a Cheeseburger ($13). The Potato Skins ($8) sound interesting too – they’re wood oven baked and topped with Guanciale and Taleggio Cheez Wiz. Whoa!
