Eat, drink and support Haiti. Cheese, Japanese & Wine Dinners

If you haven’t donated to any Haitian relief organizations yet, here’s your chance. Summer Kitchen Bakeshop is donating 15% of their sales today.  But it’s easy to donate $10 to the Red Cross – just text “Haiti” to 90999.

And if you’re going out tonight, you might want to stop by the Top Ten Social Club party at Levende because “every single penny goes to Haitian relief.” Oakland Local has a list of more ways we can help.  Please e-mail me at christina@eastbaydish.com if you hear about other food or drink fundraisers, and I’ll add them to this list.

Say cheese!  To celebrate Allison Hooper’s new book, In a Cheesemaker’s Kitchen, The Pasta Shop is hosting a panel discussion to explore California and Vermont artisan cheeses.  Cheese lovers will probably want to stay for the Vermont Butter and Cheese Dinner at Cafe Rouge next door.  The menu speaks for itself:

I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Peko Peko Catering’s Japanese food, and it will be available at a one night only pop-up restaurant.  According to SFoodie, they aren’t taking any more reservations, but half the seats will be left open for walk-ins.  Beer and sake will also be served with dinner.
