Artists will decorate the streets of North Berkeley for the Chocolate & Chalk Art Festival this weekend. The family friendly event will also offer pony rides, face painting, a petting zoo, a bouncy house and live music. Of course, nearby restaurants will serve sweet and savory chocolate dishes, including Caribbean Black Bean Chocolate Soup, Spicy Chicken Molé, Chocolate Chicken Tikka Kabob, Chocolate Mochi, Chocolate Brownies, Chocolate Chip Cookies and more.

Berkeley schools could lose funding for gardening and cooking programs so over 40 restaurants are helping out. They have pledged to donate a portion of the proceeds from Thursday through Berkeley Dine Out. Here are just some of the options: Comal, Gather, Ippuku, Masse’s Pastries, Flaco’s, Cheese Board, The Local Butcher Shop and Elmwood Cafe.
