Executive Chef Fred Sassen (Camino, Farallon) along with his wife Elizabeth Sassen (Farallon and Waterbar) are getting ready to open Homestead in the former Zatis space. The co-owners are planning to make bread, charcuterie, pasta, cheese, ice cream, vinegar and preserves in house. Their seasonal menu will change frequently and could include starters ($9 – 14) like Grilled Asparagus with spicy coppa and preserved Meyer lemon. Main dishes ($18 – 24) could include Spit Roasted Leg of Lamb with spiced baby fava beans, green garlic and Strauss yogurt. The drink menu will include craft beers, international wines and was created with Stephen Laborde of The Trappist Provisions. Abigail Reser, former lead server and co-manager at BayWolf will also join the team and the plan is to open in early July.
4029 Piedmont Ave, Oakland
Starting in July, Tues – Sat, 5 – 10pm
