Palo-Alto based Sliderbar opened in San Francisco last year and just opened a third location in Berkeley last week. I stopped by for lunch and was surprised that it’s actually more of a bar than a restaurant. I guess it makes sense with the word “bar” is in the name, right? There were several flat screens and several people watching the Manchester United game. The lunch special is 2 sliders with fries, but there were over 15 sliders on the menu (beef, chicken, pork, veggie, seafood, breakfast), so it was hard to decide. The bartender helped me with some suggestions: the Please & Q’s (Homemade pulled pork, barbeque sauce, pickled onions, cole slaw on an artisan white bun) and the Hot Chick (Fresh all natural ground chicken with serrano chili, garlic, lime & green tomatillo patty, serrano chili mayo, gem lettuce, tortilla chips, cilantro, tomatoes on a multigrain bun). The meat was slightly underseasoned, but the condiments saved both sliders. It was a good amount of food for lunch, and with tax and tip, I got out of there for around $10. The food was pretty decent, especially for the price, and with a location so close to Cal, it seems like a good place to watch the game.
