Colin Etezadi (formerly of Boot & Shoe) just opened Slicer Pizzeria in the former Local Cafe space, according to Inside Scoop. I met a friend for a late dinner last week, and there were salads, sweets, drinks and five pizzas on the menu. By the time I got there, she had already ordered a slice of each and had them cut in half so we could split everything. All in the name of research, right? Let’s just say it was hard choosing a favorite. The crust was properly cooked, thin New York-style, and accentuated with fresh toppings. The Cheese (Two types of Mozzarella and Parmesan) was surprisingly flavorful, with a savory tomato sauce and that unmistakable toasted cheese flavor. We also tried the Spicy Pancetta (Tomato Sauce, Chiles, Mint), Fresh Ricotta (Black Olives, Onion, Calabrian Chili Peppers), Housemade Sausage (Tomato Sauce, Gypsy Peppers, Red Onion, Marjoram) and Summer Squash (Red Onion, Basil, Corn). With the exception of the Sausage which was a bit too heavy on the marjoram, all of the slices were wonderfully balanced. So which one should you try? It really just depends on your mood. Cheese slices were $3 and whole pies $20, while other options went for $3.50/slice and $23/pie. Considering the quality, it’s perfect for a quick dinner or take-out, and definitely worth the price.

Open Tuesday-Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
