Hog’s Apothecary opened a couple weeks ago on 40th Street. If you’re a beer drinker, you really need to check it out because there are over 30 taps. I stopped by with some friends on Sunday night and it was BUSY. The server said everything was made in house, so I ordered the Corn Dog (with lard-fried chips and pickles, $8). It turned out to be about a foot long, with juicy and flavorful meat, but the batter was on the soggy side. The chips were nice and crispy, but also kind of greasy and under salted. I’d give the kitchen a few more weeks to find its footing before trying some of the more expensive dishes like the Braised Pork Shoulder ($24) or the River Dog Fried Chicken ($24).
