Food Day is “a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced food and a grassroots campaign for better food policies.” There are several events planned in the East Bay, including a pop-up at La Borinqueña. Jack London Square Farmers’ Market, Kitchener Oakland, and lOAKal Mobile Food are all working together and will offer beer ($5-6) from Linden Street Brewery and Almanac Beer Co (proceeds benefit Market Match), food from Tina Tamale, Ippo Ramen, Keena’s Kitchen (BBQ pork belly), Pie Hole (Chicken, vegetable, and mac & cheese pot pies), Powered by Pork (Duck confit, carnitas, and verdolagas Vietnamese/Mexican tacos), A.D.D. (Organic tea-infused chocolates, chocolate brittle, and chocolate pumpkin truffles), Bump City Bakery (Tiny Bourbon Apple Pies, Coffee Toffee Cookies, Zombie Cupcakes), Tart! Bakery (Apple pie by the slice, cookies, and travel cakes) and Uptown Juice Company (Cold-pressed organic juices). There will also be Ground Stew Farm produce and a chef’s table, local food and food justice organizations People’s Community Market, Raise the Root Cooking Collective, a photo booth and free screen printing. Bring a t-shirt or bag and they’ll print it for free!
